Our Story
Who We Are
We’re Kris and Alexandra—a husband and wife team who started this business after adapting our own home for our daughter, Doris, who has complex disabilities. Like many families, we wanted a space that truly worked for all of us—safe and accessible for Doris, practical for our other children, and still very much a home, not a hospital.
Through that journey, we learned how overwhelming the process can be: from planning and design, to managing builders, to making sure every decision supports daily life. That’s why we decided to use our experience to help others in the same situation.
Kris has over 20 years of building experience and runs Southern Garage Conversions, with a strong track record in home transformations. Alexandra is Doris’s main carer and brings lived experience of what really works day-to-day. Together, we understand both the technical and emotional sides of adapting a home—and we’re here to support you from start to finish.
We offer a complete service—from initial design and planning, through to all aspects of building work. Whether you’re funding the work privately or through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG), we’ll help you create a space that meets your needs and feels like home.
